The house was the perfect size and location for my wife's 80th birthday celebration with old friends for the first half of our 6 night stay, and family for the second half. Wildwood has the balance of elegant and rustic characteristics that create a convivial, generous environment appropriate to Inverness. The wraparound porch is generously sized for a large group ( we had 8 for the first half and 10 for the second half) with dappled sunlight under the redwoods when the fog burned off in the afternoon. The house is well appointed, and Meg, the VRBO host contact, was very responsive. Our only caveat is the kitchen. It's common for old houses to have small kitchens, and we were prepared for that. However, the oven part of the range is unreliable for serious cooking, and the range has no hood. Our friends are good cooks and had to abandon their plan to cook polenta in the oven, finishing it instead on the electric coil stovetop burners. We had a catered meal for our last night, and it was really challenging for the caterer, who set off the smoke alarms twice while searing parts of the five course meal he prepared. The grill on the porch was helpful to fall back on, but the range should be replaced, and a hood installed. This would make the kitchen function much better without a major remodel.

Super charming large house in a beautiful wooded area. Room for four cars to park. Room for LOTS of people. Well designed with a large kitchen and a beautiful paneled living room with a cozy fireplace and couches all around. The bathrooms are well designed, super clean and modern. On each floor, there is a toilet room with a tiny sink and another full bathroom with a toilet, sink and shower. Kitchen cabinets have the basics. I would prefer to have more than one key. Thanks for a beautiful stay in a unique and character-filled home!

Wonderful 5 night stay at Wildwood. Big enough to accommodate our extended family with everyone having a large bedroom to themselves, and huge dining tables and living room with plenty of seating. The split bathrooms (toilet and sink separate from sink and shower) made two bathrooms seem like four. Fabulous deck amongst redwoods on steep hillside made property very private yet close to the village of Inverness. Wood paneling throughout have this spacious, historic home a feeling of coziness. National seashore is a treasure of beaches, ocean, Bay, mountains and forest. Hiking, horse back riding, kayaking and sand castle construction, meadery and restaurants all make this place near heaven on earth!

What a beautiful house! Our group of 10, ranging in age from 5 to 73, was so comfortable. The home is clean, well appointed for cooking, and in the most beautiful location. A perfect place to spend the slow days between Christmas and the New Year.
